Starkville, Miss. – Playing in their sixth elimination game in the past eight days, the Central Arkansas Bears showed that the threat of neither elimination nor rain was enough to put them away. The fourth-seeded Bears overcame a rain delay and a comeback attempt to win their first ever NCAA tournament game, defeating the third-seeded Mercer Bears by a final score of 6-5 in eleven innings to keep their season alive for at least one more day. BATON ROUGE – An offensive explosion in the late innings highlighted the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team’s 15-1 victory over Jackson State in the first elimination game of the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional here Saturday afternoon at Alex Box Stadium/Skip Bertman Field.
The Cajuns (42-19) responded from being held to two runs on four hits on Friday against Sam Houston State by collecting 15 runs on 19 hits against Jackson State, registering two four-run innings – in the fifth and eighth inning – and a six-run inning in the ninth. The 14-run margin of victory marked the largest victory in the NCAA Baseball Championship for the Cajuns. Continue reading
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Cole Lankford helped get Texas A&M off to a dynamite start, doubling in a run in the first inning, and Parker Ray was dominant on the mound for 8 2/3 innings as the Aggies defeated UT San Antonio 6-1 in an elimination game at the Corvallis Regional.
Lankford finished the game 5-for-5, scored a run and drove in two to lead a 12-hit assault that the Roadrunners were unable to match. Continue reading
This time, Davis prevented an epic fail by the No. 3 national seed Beavers in their opener of the Corvallis Regional. He smashed a one-out, first-pitch fastball into the gap in right center, scoring Tyler Smith and Michael Conforto, to lift the Beavers to a 5-4 victory over UT San Antonio, a team that came in seeded fourth in the regional after winning the WAC tourney.
A week ago, Davis scored the series-winning run in the bottom of the ninth against Washington State, putting the wrapping paper on the Beavers third conference title since 2005, but first since 2006. Continue reading

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Anthony Izzio scattered seven hits and allowed just one run in six innings pitched to lead the second-seeded University of South Alabama baseball team to a 9-4 win over third-seeded Mercer in the opening round of the NCAA Starkville Regional at Dudy Noble Field.
Izzio (4-0) struck out five and issued one walk to earn his fourth consecutive win in as many appearances. It also marked South Alabama’s first NCAA Regional win since 2006. Continue reading

For the first time since 2003, Mississippi State is playing host to an NCAA Regional. This field is stacked and is considered among the toughest regionals in the field of 64. The No. 1 seed Bulldogs have been playing good baseball as of late, but No. 2 seed South Alabama was also in hosting considerations.
