SE Louisiana names Matt Riser as Head Coach

MattRiserHAMMOND, La. – Following a national search, Southeastern Louisiana University has named Matt Riser as head baseball coach, Director of Athletics Jay Artigues announced Tuesday (Jan. 21). Southeastern Louisiana loses Scholarships in 2014 and 2015 Seasons

Oral Roberts heads back to The Summit League in 2014-2015 School Year

OralRobertsFeaturedImageTULSA, Okla.-Oral Roberts University will return to The Summit League in all sports, beginning July 1, 2014, it was announced on Thursday.

With the announcement, ORU returns to a league where it spent 15 seasons, leaving the Southland Conference after two seasons of competition. All 16 sports sponsored by ORU will compete in The Summit League. Continue reading

Nicholls State releases 2014 Schedule

CBD Top 100 Countdown: 69. Jameson Fisher (SE Louisiana)

Fisher_JamesonWe continue the countdown today with number 69, SE Louisiana catcher/infielder Jameson Fisher. In his freshman campaign with Lions, Fisher quickly collected a handful of accolades, proving that he would be a prospect to watch. The freshman infielder started all 60 games in the 2013 season and was able to put up some pretty impressive numbers in the process. His .315 average led the team and his 69 hits were also good for the top spot amongst the Lion’s lineup. Fisher was named to the Southland Conference Honor Roll as well as the NCBWA Freshman All-American list (C). The 6’2” infielder also added Southland Conference All-Tournament team (1B) and an All-Southland Conference honorable mention to his list of accomplishments. Continue reading

2014 Northwestern State Schedule Announced

NorthwesternStateLogoNATCHITOCHES – The 2014 Northwestern State baseball schedule, highlighted by five NCAA Tournament teams and a visit from LSU to Brown-Stroud Field, was announced by head coach Lane Burroughs and his staff on Thursday.

The 56-game schedule features Louisiana-Lafayette, LSU, Sam Houston, Arkansas, and Central Arkansas, all who participated in the postseason. Continue reading

Lamar releases 2014 Schedule

JimGilliganLamar.jpgBEAUMONT – It will be another busy season at Vincent-Beck Stadium next year as the Lamar baseball team released its 2014 schedule, which features 33 games to be played in Beaumont, including the first 13 of the season.

Lamar, which is coming off a 39-win 2013 season, is slated to begin play with the annual Cardinal Classic. UIC and Marist will make the trek to Beaumont for the tournament, which will begin on February 14 and continue over the ensuing two days. Each team will play the other two twice. Continue reading
