CBD Visit: Army sweeps Holy Cross to Win Patriot League Championship

The Army Black Knights continued their dominance of the Patriot League by sweeping the Holy Cross Crusaders on Sunday afternoon by scores of 9-4 and 5-4. The wins by the Black Knights give them their sixth Patriot League title under Joe Sottalano as they have now made the NCAA Tournament in back to back seasons for the first time since they completed the feat in the 2004 and 2005. He is being deployed over to the Middle East for another time, leaving his life at West Point – including his wife, his three children, his teaching position and his coaching position with the Black Knights’ pitchers and outfielders – on hold while he serves in Operation Enduring Freedom. 2013 Patriot League Preseason Coaches Poll

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Army baseball team was picked first in the Patriot League preseason poll which was released on Wednesday. The Black Knights earned five first-place votes and finished tied with Holy Cross atop the preseason listing, which was compiled by a vote of the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Army and Holy Cross, whom Army defeated in three games to claim the 2012 Patriot League tournament championship, both accumulated 45 points to tie for first in the preseason poll. The Crusaders collected six first-place votes. Read the rest of this entry »

Army set to host the New York Yankees

WEST POINT, N.Y. – A tradition that began nearly a century ago will be rekindled for the first time since 1986 this spring when the Army baseball team hosts the New York Yankees in an exhibition game at Doubleday Field on Saturday, March 30, at 2 p.m.

Holy Cross releases 2013 Schedule

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross baseball team has released its 2013 schedule, announced by athletic director Richard M. Regan Jr. and head coach Greg DiCenzo. Navy releases 2013 Schedule

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy baseball head coach Paul Kostacopoulos has announced the 2013 schedule. A season-opening series at Norfolk State, a return to the annual Freedom Classic in Kinston, N.C., and a trip to Florida for the RussMatt Invitational highlight Navy’s non-conference schedule.
