Sophomore Sheldon McDonald threw eight shutout innings of five-hit, nine-strikeout ball and did not walk a batter, as he led the Huskies to a 5-0 win over the Western Michigan Broncos on Wednesday afternoon at IMG Academies in BRadenton, Fla. Western Michigan entered the game having scored at least 15 runs in three of its last five games, but McDonald kept the Bronco bats silent all afternoon. Continue reading

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of South Florida Bulls ended their two-game skid with a 9-8 victory against the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday night at Red McEwen Field.

USF improves to 3-2 on the season while the Wildcats drop to 3-3.

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Hawai’i took a 4-0 lead and never trailed in a 7-3 victory over Northern Illinois Thursday night at Surprise Stadium. Indiana State grabs Series Finale

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of South Florida baseball team dropped the final game of the three-game series to the Indiana State Sycamores, 6-4, Sunday afternoon at Red McEwen Field.

“We didn’t do a very good job offensively and we paid for it today,” said head coach Lelo Prado. “Our schedule is only going to get tougher and we cannot be satisfied winning two of three games.” Continue reading

USF picks up an Extra-Inning win

TAMPA, Fla. – A single by sophomore Victor Pina in the bottom of the 12th gave the University of South Florida baseball team a 6-5 victory over the Indiana State Sycamores Saturday night at Red McEwen Field.

“For us to win there must be a hero every night,” said head coach Prado. “Tonight it was Victor Pina.”

The heroics started earlier in the game when in the bottom of the ninth and the bases loaded, junior Chris Rey crushed a 3-2 fastball over the left field wall, tying the game at five, and sending the game into extra innings.

Maruszak Homerun Lifts Bulls to Victory

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of South Florida baseball team kicked off their 2008 campaign by defeating the Indiana State Sycamores 4-2, in front of an announced crowd of 530, Friday evening at Red McEwen Field.
