Mike Cole named Head Coach at NJIT

MikeColeNJIT NEWARK, NJ—Mike Cole is the new head baseball coach at NJIT after spending the previous nine years as an assistant with three different successful Division I programs, Director of Athletics Lenny Kaplan announced today.

Cole coached at the University of Vermont (2002 to 2004, and 2009); at Manhattan College (2005 to 2008); and most recently at the University of Maine (2010), where the team finished 34-22.

Carl Iwaski to be named Head Coach at Northern Colorado

NorthernColoradoGREELEY, Colo. – Jon Bon Jovi and Jennifer Nettles sang the lyrics “Who says you can’t go back?” and Carl Iwasaki is putting the song to the test.

Iwasaki (pronounced Ee-wah-sah-key), who has spent the last six years as the head coach at Austin College, has been named Northern Colorado’s ninth baseball coach.

NCBWA National Players of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)­ released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending April 25, today. North Dakota junior first baseman Jake Magner was named National Hitter of the Week, while Eastern Michigan sophomore right-handed pitcher Kendall Lewis was named National Pitcher of the Week.  The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season.

HAMMOND, La. – The 2010 Southeastern Louisiana baseball team now has the school’s all-time best winning streak all to itself. After tying the mark Friday, the Lions broke it Saturday, taking their 11th straight game to improve to 11-0 on the year. The 4-1 victory over Texas Southern also clinched the series for Southeastern.

LamarPhoto BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar’s Anthony Moore drove a walk-off single off the right field fence in the 17th inning Saturday night to end the longest baseball game in school history and give the Cardinals a 5-4 victory and a doubleheader sweep of Maine. They also won the first game 6-1.
