TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama left-hander Miers Quigley threw one less scoreless inning Wednesday night than Southeastern Louisiana used pitchers in leading the Crimson Tide to a 7-0 win at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

OC-Register checks in with Dave Serrano

The Orange County Register writer Keith Sharon checks in with Cal-State Fullerton head coach Dave Serrano. Sharon grew up with Serrano in Cerritos CA playing in youth leagues up until high school with him. He talks about how much love that Serrano had for the game based upon how he took a field maintenance job at Cerritos Community College when he had an unpaid assistant coaching job. We now see that Serrano has moved on from the lower levels as he is one of the top college baseball coaches in the country. The full article is available here.

Aggies Outslug Cougars To Take Series Finale

PULLMAN, Wash. – Junior catcher Jake Jefferies had a game-high five hits and drove in three runs, and UC Davis used a season-high 21 hits to overcome a seven-run deficit and defeat Washington State, 13-11, in a nonconference baseball game at Bailey-Brayton Field Sunday afternoon. The Aggie win evened the final series at 2-2.

UCSB Trounces Pacific in Series Finale, 12-2

Stockton, Calif.The UC Santa Barbara offense (21-9, 5-1) powered the Gauchos to a 12-2 win against University of the Pacific (6-22, 1-5) on Sunday at Klein Family Field. UCSB pounded out 12 runs on 16 hits as senior starting pitcher Chuck Huggins (6-1) tamed the Tigers, allowing only two runs in seven innings of work.

The Gauchos scored a run in the first inning to take an early lead that they would never relinquish. Following a pair of singles from Chris Fox and Eric Oliver, left fielder Mike Zuanich singled through the left side, scoring Fox for the first run of the game. The Gauchos first inning run gives them 33 on the year, second only to the fourth inning in which they have scored 35 runs.
