CINCINNATI – Indiana University pitching coach Ty Neal, who is regarded as one of the top assistant coaches in college baseball, has been named the University of Cincinnati’s 27th baseball head coach, director of athletics Whit Babcock announced Friday.
Neal, a native of Southwest Ohio, has spent the last eight seasons at IU as the program’s top assistant and recruiting coordinator. He was previously an assistant for the Bearcats in 2004 and both played and coached at Miami (Ohio). The Hoosiers, playing at Florida State this weekend for a berth in the College World Series, are currently ranked No. 8 nationally and playing in the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time in school history. LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Oklahoma State advanced to the NCAA Louisville Regional final Sunday with a 7-1 win over Miami, but Louisville ended the Cowboys’ season by knocking them off by a 12-3 margin at Jim Patterson Stadium.

BLACKSBURG – Sean Keselica had two hits and an RBI to lift Virginia Tech past Connecticut 3-1 in an elimination game at the NCAA Blacksburg regional held at English Field on Sunday afternoon.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Oklahoma State earned its first NCAA Tournament win in four years Saturday as the third-seeded Cowboys advanced in the NCAA Louisville Regional with a 7-3 win over fourth-seeded Bowling Green in an elimination game at Jim Patterson Stadium.

Virginia Tech 9 Coastal Carolina 1
BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech got strong pitching from starter Devin Burke, and both Andrew Rash and Chad Pinder hit solo home runs to lift the Hokies to a 9-1 victory over Coastal Carolina in an NCAA regional game at English Field on Saturday afternoon.

BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Sooners were down but not out, rallying to defeat Coastal Carolina, 7-3, in their NCAA Regional opener at English Field Friday.

Louisville’s season didn’t end as well as they would have liked. Just two games into the 2013 Big East tournament, and the Cardinals found themselves ousted by UConn. Though losing their opportunity at a national seed in the NCAA tournament, the Cardinals were selected to host the regional at Jim Patterson Stadium.
