UMass releases 2014 Schedule

RyanFranczekUMass_thumb.jpgAMHERST, Mass. – The UMass baseball team released its 2014 schedule Wednesday afternoon with the campaign slated to open on Saturday, Feb. 22. UMass will face the Army Black Knights in a doubleheader beginning at noon in Cary, N.C. The series finishes the following day as both teams will face off at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23.

UMass’ early season action will also feature four games against ACC foe Maryland from Feb. 28 to March 2 in College Park, Md. The squad then heads south again to Davidson, N.C., to face Davidson and North Carolina A&T (March 7-9) and will play its second three-game series with Army in Tampa, Fla., March 15-16. Rhode Island releases 2014 Schedule

VCUTeamPicRICHMOND, Va.- Twenty-five home games and eight games against NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago highlight a challenging 2014 VCU Baseball schedule, announced today by Head Coach Shawn Stiffler.

“We’re excited about this year’s schedule with lots of opportunities to battle with some of the best programs on the East Coast,” Stiffler said. “We’ve got a tough non-conference slate that will set us up for a highly competitive A-10 slate. Xavier releases 2014 Schedule

ScottGooginsXavier.jpgCINCINNATI – The 2014 Xavier baseball schedule has been released by head coach Scott Googins, and features six contests against three teams that played in the 2013 College World Series (CWS) before opening play in the BIG EAST Conference.

“We feel that our challenging non-conference schedule will help to prepare us for the rigors of our Big East conference schedule,” said Googins. “Getting the chance to play six games against three different teams that were in the College World Series last season will be a great opportunity to see how we stack up against the nation’s best.” Continue reading

George Washington releases 2014 Schedule

GeorgeWashingtonlogoWASHINGTON – The George Washington baseball team, under the direction of second-year head coach and reigning Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year Gregg Ritchie, will host 29 games at Barcroft as part of a 56-game schedule in 2014.

Last season, the Colonials returned to the Atlantic 10 Championship for the first time since 2006 and defeated No. 3 seed Rhode Island before being eliminated in the final four of the bracket by eventual champion and No.1 seed Saint Louis. caputo_journalHello everyone. To start out I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Tim Caputo and I’m a junior here at the University of Rhode Island. I am studying Kinesiology, majoring in Exercise Science and I play infield for the Rhody Rams baseball team.

It’s about that time of year again to dust the dirt off of our spikes from summer ball and lace them up for another full season of hard work. Fall ball is the time when the new guys get to show their stuff and the veterans challenge these guys and introduce them to the lifestyle of being a college baseball player. It’s always fun to meet the new freshman and see which rookies will get the chance to make an immediate impact on and off the field. Continue reading
