The Mountain West Conference Tournament had a couple of exciting finishes and officially has a team swinging a mean scythe. The West Coast Conference has its championship game participants and it will be a familiar face-off.
Oh…and some guy named Garza happened to throw nine innings without the other team getting a hit and there might have been an upset of the No. 1 team in the country.

Anthony Italiano ripped a line drive down the left field line that brought home Casey Baker from second to give the Seawolves the early 2-1 win and helped lead them to a 4-1 victory.
The game lived up to the fanfare as Stony Brook’s Frankie Vanderka and Tommy Lawrence dueled throughout the game. Vanderka gave up only one run on eight hits while pitching the complete game. With the Mountain West and West Coast Conference tournaments starting up Wednesday and Thursday and crucial weekend series to wrap up the regular season for the Big West and Pac-12, very few midweek games were on the slate this week.
But one game presented a pair of college baseball traditional powers squaring off in a huge bubble battle as the history-rich programs of USC and Cal State Fullerton played with RPI rankings on the line.
The game started in favor of one squad, but made a drastic turn with the assistance of a player nicknamed “Bubbles.”

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Three Northwest players made sure any decision on the 2014 Pac-12 Conference champion will remain for another day as freshman catcher Logan Ice drilled an RBI double off the right field wall in the bottom of the ninth at Goss Stadium to lift No. 2 Oregon State to a 1-0 victory over No. 5 Washington.
Ice’s one-out hit off reliever Troy Rallings – who had riled up Beaver Believers the night before with his antics in a 4-2 Huskies win – made a complete-game winner of Jace Fry and plated Dylan Davis.
