DAVIS, Calif. — A total of 14 games against five NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago highlights the 2015 schedule for the UC Davis baseball team, as Head Coach Matt Vaughn announced his club’s 57-game slate.
Four of the five NCAA Tournament opponents will come from the Aggies’ own conference, as three-game series against regional participants Cal State Fullerton (April 10-12) and Big West Conference regular season champion Cal Poly (May 21-23) will be contested at Dobbins Stadium, while UC Davis will travel to face Long Beach State (May 15-17) and College World Series participant UC Irvine (April 17-19). FULLERTON, Calif. – Coming off the 40th consecutive winning season in Cal State Fullerton’s NCAA Division I history, the Titans will begin the quest for a fifth national championship on Feb. 13, 2015, part of the 30-game road schedule which was announced Thursday. HONOLULU – The University of Hawai’i Rainbow Warrior baseball team announced its 2015 schedule which includes eight teams from last year’s NCAA Tournament field and another daunting Big West Conference slate.
The ‘Bows will play 53 games, 30 in the friendly confines of Les Murakami Stadium where they ranked 18th in the nation in attendance last season and first in the west region. LONG BEACH, Calif. – Head coach Troy Buckley and the Long Beach State Dirtbags have put together another challenging schedule for the 2015 season. The Dirtbags 2015 slate features eight opponents who made the postseason in 2014 and two who made the Super Regionals.
Fresh off its first postseason appearance in six years, the Dirtbags will again face one of the toughest schedules in the country as they look to get back into the NCAA Tournament. The eight opponents who made the tournament in 2014 account for 22 games in the 55-game schedule and six of the eight opponents will be played in the nonconference portion of the schedule. According to a release from Cal State Fullerton baseball, RHP Phill Bickford has decided to leave the Titans program to continue his baseball career elsewhere. Bickford went 6-3 with a 2.13 ERA in 20 appearances including ten starts with Fullerton in the 2014 season. He spent the summer in the Cape Cod League with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox where he made 14 appearances (1 start) with a 1-1 record and an ERA of 2.25 while serving as the closer accumulating eight saves. Cal State Fullerton assistant coach Mike Kirby will be named an assistant with Nebraska baseball. Kirby has spent the last three seasons with the Titans program. He has also spent time under current Oregon coach George Horton where he helped rekindle the program after a 28 year hiatus. Continue reading
