Stony Brook, N.Y. – The Stony Brook University Department of Athletics has unveiled the new 5,000-square foot Seawolves Hitting Facility that will serve the indoor practice needs of the baseball and softball teams. The Seawolves Hitting Facility is located in the Indoor Sports Complex adjacent to Pritchard Gymnasium and was funded by the generous gift of an anonymous donor.
“Our mission at Stony Brook is to provide student-athletes with the tools that they need in order to achieve success in everything that they do,” Director of Athletics Shawn Heilbron said. “The new hitting facility is as nice as any that I’ve seen in the country and is a game-changer for our current and future baseball and softball student-athletes.” Continue reading

Stillwater, Okla. – Trailing by one run and two outs away from the end of the 2014 season, Nebraska’s offense rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning on its way to a 8-6 win over the Binghamton Bearcats in an elimination game on Saturday afternoon at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. The No. 19 Huskers are now 41-20 on the year, and will continue NCAA Tournament play tomorrow at 12:05 p.m. against the loser of tonight’s game between Cal State Fullerton and Oklahoma State. One of the toughest regionals will take place at Oklahoma State’s Allie P. Reynolds Stadium as three teams look set to vie for the right to head to Corvallis to face off with No. 1 overall seed Oregon State, should the Beavers advance from their regional.
Big 12 regular season champion Oklahoma State welcomes former conference rival Nebraska as well as the Big West’s premier program in Cal State Fullerton. America East champion Binghamton rounds out the regional with a roster that keeps battling despite a number of injuries.
Fullerton is no stranger to playing in South Central — either South Central LA (when visiting USC) or the South Central United States. While they haven’t played Oklahoma State, the Titans have a familiarity with the region, traveling to Baylor, Wichita State, Texas A&M and Oral Roberts in the past two years. They also played Nebraska and pitching coach Ted Silva ( a former Fullerton pitcher) four times last year, sweeping all four games.
Familiarity with the area may help the Titans’ routine, but it won’t help them once they get between the painted lines. So how does the Stillwater (OK) Regional shape up? Continue reading

On Saturday night, Binghamton coming out of the loser’s bracket grabbed a 4-3 win in a hotly contested victory over Stony Brook that ended up finishing at 11:39 pm forcing a winner take all game on Sunday afternoon at noon.
Could the the two teams compete with Saturday night’s classic? I doubted it as I made the trip to the stadium. I was totally wrong as both teams came out and played some of the most passionate baseball you could ever see on Sunday in Lowell, Massachusetts. Continue reading
