Boston College and Red Sox to honor Pete Frates

BCLogoChestnut Hill, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team will wear specially-designed jerseys at the 2015 Red Sox exhibition game on March 3 to honor former captain and director of baseball operations Pete Frates. The jerseys are replicas of the one worn by Frates in 2007, during his senior captaincy. All the players will don Frates’ last name and number 3 in his honor. (2) Virginia at East Carolina (Game 1)

The Virginia offense was led by freshman Charlie Cody who accounted for two hits and a pair of runs scored in Virginia’s 9-2 win over East Carolina. Helping Cody supply the offense was also designated hitter Matt Thaiss who went 2-4 with a home run and a pair of RBIs. This season is no different; in 2015 the ACC has the second most amount of top 25 teams according to NCBWA with five, trailing only the Southeastern Conference, which has seven teams, ranked in the top 25. College Baseball Daily 2015 Preseason Top ACC Players by Position

ACCLogoWe have gone through previous season stats, MLB draft potential, a players individual tools and overall ability to come up with the preseason top twenty-one players in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The school with the most players on the list with (4) is The University of Virginia, which is not a surprise. Following the Cavaliers up with the second most players on our list is The University of Miami with (3) and then Louisville, North Carolina, Florida State and Clemson are tied with (2) players each. Five teams combined to have (1) player on the list and those five teams are Duke, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, N.C. State and Virginia Tech. The Virginia baseball team has been picked as the 2015 ACC favorite for the second straight year by the leagues 14 Head Coaches. 2015 ACC Atlantic Division Preview

ACCLogoWith the start of college baseball season less than a month away, here at College Baseball Daily we’re previewing each team in the Atlantic Coast Conference. We will start with the Atlantic Division and then move to the Coastal Division.

​The University of Virginia, preseason ranked nationally at number 2, has been selected as the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball preseason favorite by the leagues 14 head coaches. Virginia, for the second year in a row has been slated as the team to beat in the ACC with 10 first-place votes followed by Florida State with 4 first-place votes. In a conference that hosts 5 of the top 25 teams in the nation one thing is for sure and that is competitive baseball in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
