2014 CBD Top 100 Countdown: 3. Trea Turner (NC State)

turnerCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2014 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be adding players day-by-day until we get to number one!

Number 3 on our countdown is NC State junior Trea Turner. The 6’1 infielder from Lake Worth, Florida was selected in the 20th round by the Pirates in the 2011 MLB Draft.

As a freshman, Turner played and started in all 63 games for NC State. He posted a batting average of .336 with 13 doubles and 43 RBI. He also had an on base percentage of .432 and 72 runs, which ranked sixth in the nation. In addition, Turner also led the nation in stolen bases as he went 57-for-61. Number 4 on our countdown is Vanderbilt junior RHP Tyler Beede. The Auburn, Massachusetts native graduated from Lawrence Academy after being named a consensus high school All-American. 2014 CBD Top 100 Countdown: 5. Ian Happ (Cincinnati)

Number 5 on our countdown is Cincinnati sophomore outfielder Ian Happ. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native attended Mount Pleasant High School. He was a four-year letter winner where he helped guide the Blue Devils to a top eight finish in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association in 2012. 2014 CBD Top 100 Countdown: 7. Kyle Schwarber (Indiana)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2014 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be adding players day-by-day until we get to number one!

Number 7 on the countdown is Indiana junior Kyle Schwarber. The Middletown, Ohio native attended Middletown High School where he was a four time team MVP. 2014 CBD Top 100 Countdown: 8. Thomas Eshelman (Cal State Fullerton)

Thomas Eshelman improved to 12-2.College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2014 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be adding players day-by-day until we get to number one!

Number 8 on the countdown is Cal State Fullerton sophomore RHP Thomas Eshelman. The Carlsbad, California native attended Carlsbad High School. He was a three year varsity letter winner. In his senior season in 2012, he finished the season with a 4-3 record, 1.64 ERA and 76 strikeouts while batting .323 with two home runs. Number 10 on our countdown is Kennesaw State junior catcher Max Pentecost. The Winder, Georgia native attended Winder-Barrow High School. He batted .295 with three home runs, eight doubles and 16 runs during an abbreviated senior campaign which led to him being drafted in the 7th round of the MLB Draft. Number 11 on our countdown is Louisville junior Nick Burdi. The Downers Grove, Illinois native attended Downers Grove South High School.
