2014 Top 100 Players Countdown: 85. Dillon Peters (Texas)

College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the top 100 players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today at number 85 with University of Texas junior LHP Dillon Peters. In his sophomore season with the Longhorns, Peters went 6-3 with a 1.97 ERA; he finished the 2013 season with 86.2 IP and struck out 57 batters in the process. A second team All-Big 12 selection, Peters had an impressive .223 batting average against and during his 14 starts on the mound, the Longhorns were able to go 10-4. On top of his success on the field, Peters also shined in the classroom as he was named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for fall 2012. Continue reading

College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the top 100 players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today at number 86 with University Central Florida’s junior LHP Eric Skoglund. In his sophomore season with the Knights, the southpaw appeared in 14 games with 10 starts, totaling 56.2 innings and a 1-4 record. On his fist victory of the 2013 season, Skoglund went for eight innings, allowing no runs and only three hits. Continue reading

2014 Top 100 Players Countdown: 87. Jorge Lopez (Grand Canyon University)

College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the top 100 players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today at number 87 with Grand Canyon University pitcher Jorge Perez. Last season, Perez went 8-4 with a 2.86 ERA in 16 games with 15 starts for the Antelopes, collecting three complete games. Perez was named to the NCAA Division II West Region Championship All-Tournament Team after allowing just 2 earned runs in 12 innings, including a complete-game victory over Sonoma State and his first career save in the championship-clinching win over Chico State. He also tossed a complete game versus Coker College in GCU’s 10-2 win at the NCAA Division II Baseball Championships.

College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the top 100 players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today at number 88 with Harford CC third baseman KJ Hockaday. Before making the decision to attend Harford, Hockaday spent his first two seasons with the Maryland Terrapins. In his sophomore campaign with the Terps, Hockaday posted a .286 BA with 36 hits and 15 RBI during a season riddled with injury and undisclosed suspensions. Continue reading

College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the top 100 players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today at number 89 with LSU’s third baseman Christian Ibarra. Before transferring to LSU for his junior season, Ibarra was a shortstop at Rio Hondo and earned All-State and All-Pacific Division Team recognition last season after batting .396 with 20 doubles, 6 HR, 40 runs and 50 RBIs in 45 games. The Marauders were 40-5 and made it to the California Final Four, the junior-college equivalent of a Super Regional. Continue reading

College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the top 100 players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today at number 90 with Stanford infielder Drew Jackson. As a freshman, Jackson made only 24 starts for the Cardinals and posted a .207 BA with 17 hits and 4 RBI. He singled in his first career game at Rice and proved to be a key role in wins against Texas and Arizona. Continue reading

College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the top 100 players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today at number 91with Arizona State LHP pitcher Brett Lilek. In his freshman campaign with the Sun Devils, Lilek made 10 appearances, including one start where he threw a season-high five innings and struck out a season-high six in his first career start, a win over then No. 2 Arkansas. He earned Scholar Baller honors in spring of 2013 which recognizes exceptional academic performance. Continue reading

College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the top 100 players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today at number 92 with Dallas Baptist pitcher Drew Smith. Heading into his sophomore year, Smith looks to improve on his performance from his freshman campaign. In his first season with the Patriots, Smith totaled only 11.2 IP while posting a 5.40 ERA. Continue reading

We continue the list today at number 93 with Concordia (Ore.) outfielder Blake Drake. During the Cavaliers 2013 season, Drake batted .367 overall and .360 in conference play. He also stole 20 bases good for a fourth place finish in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Continue reading

College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the top 100 players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today at number 94 with Mississippi State LHP Jacob Lindgren. The Bay St. Louis, Miss. southpaw was a star at St. Stanislaus High school, compiling an 8-0 record with a 1.09 ERA. Lindgren also hit .470 with 17 RBIS and 5 homers, while securing 128 strikeouts in 64 innings.  Continue reading
