2012 was a great year for Mid-Majors in college baseball. 2 of the biggest stories in all of college baseball of course were Kent St (47-20) winning a Super Regional at Oregon and Stony Brook (52-15) winning a Super Regional at LSU to gain berths in the College World Series. We also had Purdue (44-14) who won their first Big 10 regular-season title since 1909.
For 2013 we are going to stick to the definition of a college baseball “Mid-Major” as:

Collegiate Baseball News released their Division 2 Preseason Poll recently with West Chester coming in at number one. Delta State came in second with traditional power Mount Olive at third. The NJCAA Coaches Association has announced their 2013 NJCAA Division 1 Preseason Poll today. Leading the poll is Iowa Western with San Jacinto (TX) coming in second place. Rounding out the top five are Gordon (GA) State at number 3, Shelton (AL) State at four, and Jefferson (MO) in the fifth spot. You can check out the rest of the top 20 below. TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of Arkansas has been ranked No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball’s Fabulous 40 NCAA Division I pre-season baseball poll.
The Razorbacks, which finished third during the 2012 College World Series, return five position player starters and a slew of quality pitchers, including three who are expected to be picked in the first three rounds of the 2013 Draft in RHP Ryne Stanek (8-4, 2.82 ERA, 83 K, 36 BB), RHP Colby Suggs (7-1, 1.38 ERA), and RHP Barrett Astin (11 SV, 3-5, 1.99 ERA).
