StanfordMarkAppelFeaturedStanford starter Mark Appel has everything you’d expect from a potential number one overall pick.

An intimidating force on the mound, Appel stands 6’5 and weighs 215 pounds.

He is a polished pitcher with an arsenal that includes a fastball consistently clocked between 93-95 mph. At times, he has the ability to reach back and find that extra velocity that can make a pitcher special. Reports suggest Appel has reached 98-99 mph on occasion. In his start against Oregon last weekend, the radar gun had his top speed at 97. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Appel was still registering 93 mph. Read the rest of this entry »

CBD Interview with Notre Dame’s Mik Aoki and Dan Slania

They play this weekend in the Irish Baseball Classic in Cary, NC against UMass, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and Rhode Island. CBD Scouting Video: Colton Plaia (Loyola Marymount)

ColtonPlaiaLMUColton Plaia decided to return to Loyola Marymount after being selected in the 33rd round of the 2012 MLB daft because he wanted to continue to be a part of building the Loyola Marymount baseball program. In his final season, Colton is batting .321 with three doubles thru eight games. Defensively, Colton has thrown out five base runners in seven attempts. In a recent interview, Loyola Marymount head coach Jason Gill called Colton “the best catcher on the west coast.”
