Top 100 Countdown: 76. Mike Urbanski (Binghamton)

Mike_UrbanskiWe continue the countdown today with number 76, Binghamton pitcher Mike Urbanski. In his sophomore season with the Bearcats, Urbanski made 16 relief appearances and finished with a 2-1 record. In 19 innings, the 6’4” right- hander gave up only 17 hits and struck out 16 batters, while posting a 4.74 ERA. The 2013 Bearcats staff was far from perfect but did show signs of promise down the stretch as they won the America East Conference Tournament. TD Ameritrade Stadium is a Canyon

TDAMTPThe great SID Rob Anderson of Creighton University has put together stats for all games played at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha and the numbers are very interesting. NCBWA LogoDALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continued its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 16th year with its 2013 weekly surveys. This season’s polls have been circulated from Feb. 18-June 26 following the 67th annual NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb., as UCLA captured its first NCAA baseball title. UCLA wins 2013 National Championship

UCLADogPileFeaturedOmaha, Neb. – As the bat came around and grounded the ball towards first base, David Berg ran over to cover the bag to mark the final out in an 8-0 win over Mississippi State.

The national title is UCLA baseball’s first College World Series title and 109th national title in school history. The Bruins improve to a final 49-17 on the season and a perfect 10-0 in the NCAA Tournament, while Mississippi State falls to 51-20 and a second place finish. CWS Championship: UCLA 3 Mississippi State 1

AdamPlutkoUCLAFeaturedOmaha, Neb. – A concrete Bruins’ defense held the Mississippi State Bulldogs to just one run in its 3-1 victory in game one of the College World Series finals on Monday night at TD Ameritrade Park.

UCLA improves to 48-17 on the season and will look to capture its first baseball NCAA title and 109th title in school history tomorrow night at 7 p.m. CT. 2013 CWS: UCLA 4 UNC 1

UCLAFeaturedOmaha, Neb. – Pat Valaika, Pat Gallagher, Cody Regis and Kevin Williams provided the winning offensive combination for the Bruins on Friday night in a 4-1 victory for UCLA over the University of North Carolina at TD Ameritrade Park.

2013 CWS: Mississippi State 4 Oregon State 1

JohnCohenMississippiStateSmallOMAHA, Neb. – Hunter Renfroe’s three-run homer lifted Mississippi State past Oregon State 4-1 and into the Championship Finals of the 2013 College World Series at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.

2013 CWS: UNC 7 NC State 0

UNCFeaturedImageOMAHA, Neb. – Hobbs Johnson and Chris McCue dealt the third shutout of the week, and three Tar Heels powered the North Carolina offense to eliminate NC State 7-0 from the 2013 Men’s College World Series at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.
