On February 17th, every team in the country shared one dream. The dream of being the last team left. The dream of being the best. The dream of being College World Series Champions.

On June 26, 2012…that dream came true for one team… Confetti coming down, fireworks going off, everyone in the stadium cheering for them…it finally hit them…they were the last ones standing…the Arizona Wildcats—your 2012 College World Series Champions.

The Wildcats are 2-0 in the CWS and playing excellent baseball. Through their first two games, Arizona’s pitching staff has only given up one earned run. With pitching performances that strong and a batting order that has eight players batting over .300, there’s no question as to why Arizona has been so successful. 2012 College World Series Schedule Announced

OMAHA—The game times and pairings for the first two days of the Men’s College World Series have been announced. The 66th MCWS will take place at the TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha from June 15-25/26, 2012.

The first game on Friday is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. (CT) and features the only first time participant, Stony Brook (52-13), against No. 2 national seed UCLA (47-14). Friday’s second game pits No. 3 national seed Florida St. (48-15) against Arizona (43-17), and is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. (CT). Read the rest of this entry »

CBD Column: 2012 Gainesville Super Regional

NC State plays its first Super Regional game since 2008 on Saturday, but they face an extremely tough foe in No. 1 seed Florida.

But the No. 16 Wolfpack (43-18) still have a legitimate chance to advance to the College World Series, thanks to the arm of Carlos Rodon. On Wednesday, the freshman left hander was named the National Freshman Pitcher of the Year on Wednesday by Collegiate Baseball. He comes into the weekend with a 9-0 record, and a 1.61 ERA. Charlottesville Regional; Championship Monday Recap

Game One Recap

Appalachian State chased Damien Magnifico after just 2 1/3 and jumped out to a three run lead on the Oklahoma Sooners. But the lead was short lived as the Sooners retaliated with 11 consecutive runs en route to a 14-6 win over the Mountaineers. 2012 Super Regional Hosts Announced

INDIANAPOLIS—The eight super-regional hosts were announced today by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee.

A minimum of 45 hours of super-regional television will be provided by family of ESPN channels, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. Consult local listings for specific games shown in each area of the country.
