2011 Patriot League Preseason Coaches Poll

Center Valley, Pa. – Army finished in first place in the Patriot League Baseball standings by four games in 2010, while Bucknell came through in the League Tournament to win its second crown in the past three seasons. Patriot League coaches and sports information directors predicted success for each team again in 2011 as the Black Knights edged out the Bison for first place in the League’s preseason poll, it was announced on Wednesday. 2011 Big Ten Preseason Coaches Poll

PARK RIDGE, Ill. – After winning the Big Ten’s regular-season and tournament titles last season, Minnesota has been named the conference favorite for 2011, the Big Ten announced on Tuesday. For the first time in conference history, the Big Ten baseball coaches voted on the top six teams and also selected three players from their teams for a Players to Watch list. 2011 SEC Preseason Coaches Poll

The Florida Gators are predicted to repeat as the 2011 Southeastern Conference baseball champions, as voted by the league’s 12 baseball coaches in the 20th annual preseason SEC poll.

The Gators, ranked No. 1 nationally in multiple preseason polls, seek to capture their 12th SEC Championship.  UF returns eight position starters and 11 pitchers from their 2010 squad which claimed the SEC Championship and advanced to the NCAA College World Series. Read the rest of this entry »

2011 Big 12 Preseason Coaches Poll

Oklahoma is the preseason favorite to claim the Big 12 baseball regular season championship heading into the 2011 season, in a vote of the league’s head coaches. In 2010, the Sooners made their 10th College World Series appearance and first trip to Omaha since 1995. 2011 Mountain West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Five-time defending Mountain West Conference champion TCU is the unanimous favorite to win its sixth consecutive regular season MWC baseball title in 2011, according to a vote of the seven MWC head coaches and a selected media panel. The Horned Frogs received all 16 first-place votes and 112 points overall, while BYU garnered 84 points to finish second in the poll. San Diego State collected 75 points for a third-place ranking in the poll, while New Mexico was fourth (71 points). 2011 West Coast Conference Coaches Poll

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – With the first pitch of the 2011 season barely a week away, the University of San Diego is a unanimous selection to repeat as the West Coast Conference champions, garnering all seven possible first place votes and 49 points in a preseason poll of the eight WCC head coaches, announced Thursday. 2011 Atlantic Sun Preseason Coaches Poll

MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun’s reigning regular-season and tournament champions, FGCU and Mercer shared the top spot in the preseason coaches’ poll, the conference announced on Thursday. ETSU’s Paul Hoilman, the 2010 Player of the Year unanimously earned the preseason tag while FGCU’s all-conference starting pitcher, Richie Erath, received the Preseason Pitcher of the Year honor. 2011 Southern Conference Preseason Poll

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference baseball coaches and media have each selected College of Charleston as the preseason favorite to win the league championship in 2011.

The Cougars received all 10 possible first-place votes and 100 points in the coaches’ balloting, as coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams. CofC also grabbed 19 of 22 first-place votes and 239 points in the media poll. Coach Monte Lee’s team returns six of nine starters in the field as well as a pair of weekend starting pitchers from the 2010 team that was 44-19 overall and finished second in the NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional.
