2011 NCBWA Top 30 Poll (March 7th)

DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 14th year with its 2011 weekly surveys. Polls will be circulated from Feb. 21-June 28 following the 65th annual NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb., at the new TD Ameritade Stadium.

To date, TCU, UCLA and Florida have held the No. 1 NCBWA rankings in ’11. Continue reading

2011 CBD Mid-Major Poll (March 7th)

Preseason #1 TCU (7-4) is back in the top spot this week after  going 3-1.  After dropping a midweek game to Dallas Baptist, they went on the road and swept a pretty good Texas Tech club.  After missing his start with blister last week, TCU lefty Matt Purke was back on the bump and  picked up the win on Sunday going six innings allowing only 1 hit and 0 runs. 2011 CBD Mid-Major Poll (Feb. 28th)

Week 2 was full of upsets and great performances. Several teams continued to climb the rankings ladder and a few continued to tumble.

Of course we will start with the bad news. Last weeks #1 Louisville (4-2) was one of the victims of the upsets. Toledo went to Louisville and shocked the Cardinals and took 2 of 3 and dropped them to #6. Continue reading

2011 CBD Mid-Major Poll (Feb. 21st)

We have a new #1 after a very good opening weekend of college baseball. It was a very good weekend for alot of clubs and a very bad weekend for some clubs.

UCONN was the new and sexy pick in the Big East this year but Louisville showed it wants to remain the top dog in the Big East. Louisville(3-0) moves into the #1 spot in the poll after beating Michigan, Ohio St and Minnesota in the Big East/Big 10 Challenge. UCONN(1-2) did not have nearly the same success, dropping the opener to Purdue followed by loss to Minnesota before beating Michigan on Sunday and dropped from #2 in poll to #9. Continue reading

2011 NCBWA Division I Preseason Poll

DALLAS – TCU is No. 1 nationally for the first time in school history in the 2011 National Collegiate Baseball Writers poll.

Coach Jim Schlossnagle’s squad finished 54-14 a year and third in the university’s inaugural trip to the NCAA World Series after downing preseason No. 1 Texas in the 2010 NCAA Austin Super Regional. The 2010
NCBWA Coach of the Year welcome ’10 NCBWA Freshman of the Year and team ace (16-0 to lead the nation in wins) Matt Purke among a stellar cast of returnees. The Horned Frogs also gained a No. 1 rating in the pre-2011 Collegiate Baseball poll. Continue reading
