NCBWA Division 1 Poll – April 18, 2011

DALLAS - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 14th year with its 2011 weekly surveys. Polls will be circulated from Feb. 21-June 28 following the 65th annual NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb., at the new TD Ameritade Stadium.

To date, TCU, UCLA, Florida, Vanderbilt, and Virginia have held the No. 1 NCBWA rankings in ’11.

2011 CBD Mid-Major Poll (April 18th)

Fresno St (25-5) did not stay out of the #1 spot for very long.  Fresno St won all 3 games from Nevada this weekend to move into the top spot……..Troy (26-9) did not hold the top spot long.  Troy had a rough week this week going 1-3 and dropped to #6.  The Trojans dropped a mid week game at Jacksonville St before losing 2 of 3 at MTSU in Sunbelt play. CBD Mid-Major Poll (April 11th)

We have a new #1 for week 9.  Troy (25-6) moves into the top spot after a 3-1 week where they beat Auburn 14-6 mid week before taking 2 of 3 from FIU in Sunbelt play.  The Trojans leaped over the 2 mainstays at #1 and #2 for most the year…….Fresno St (22-5) slides down one spot to #2 after splitting 4 games at San Jose St……….TCU (22-10) also drops down one spot to #3 going 4-1 on week.  TCU won 2 games vs Texas-Pan American during week and won 2 of 3 from New Mexico.

Stetson (25-7) continues its dominance of the ASUN this year and moves up 3 spots to #4 with sweep of Kennesaw St…….Charlotte (26-6) also is dominating its conference.  The 49ers move up 1 spot to #5 with another A-10 sweep of St Josephs moving to 8-1 in league. 2011 CBD Mid-Major Poll (April 4th)

#1 Fresno St (20-3) stays atop the rankings for 5th week in a row after winning 2 of 3 vs San Fransico……. #2 TCU (18-9) also stays put with a 3-1 week.  TCU dropped a mid week game to Stephen F. Austin before sweeping Air Force in MWC play…………. Also not changing position was #3 Texas St (19-8). Texas St went 2-2 on week, after losing mid week to Mizzo, Texas St toook 2 of 3 from the 2nd place SLC club Stephen F. Austin to remain in 1st place by a game over SFA in the Southland. 2011 CBD Mid-Major Poll (March 28th)

Fresno St (18-2) remains #1 for the 4th week in a row after a perfect 4-0 week. Fresno St picked up a mid week win over Ohio St before taking 3 games from San Diego, including Saturdays 3-2 win in 22 innings.

TCU (15-8) stays at #2 going 3-1 on the week. TCU beat #3 Texas St 3-1 on Tuesday before winning 2 of 3 vs Houston…..Texas St (17-6) also stays put at #3 going 2-2 this week, dropping the mid week game to TCU before traveling to Lamar and winning series 2-1 and staying in first place tie in Southland at (8-1). NCBWA Top 30 Poll (March 21st)

DALLAS (NCBWA) –  The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 14th year with its 2010 weekly surveys. Weekly polls will be circulated from Feb. 22-June 29 following the 64th annual NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb., and first CWS competition at TD Ameritrade Park. 2011 CBD Mid-Major Poll (March 21st)

Week 5 was not kind to the teams in the top 25 as only 10 of the 25 teams had winning records this past week.

#1 Fresno St (14-2) held on to the top spot this week after sweeping 3 games from Washington St.

#2 TCU (12-7) also stays put after a 2-2 week.  After dropping a mid week game to UT-Arlington, TCU took 2 of 3 at UNLV to open MWC play. Continue reading 2011 CBD Mid-Major Poll (March 21st)
