We were able to discuss how the results were affected the final 2011 standings which the Florida Gators won with 93 points. TD Ameritrade Park hosted its first College World Series after Rosenblatt Stadium hosted it for the last 61 seasons over the last two weeks with the South Carolina Gamecocks winning the 2011 College World Series title over Florida. Overall, I came away pretty impressed by the overall atmosphere of the new digs. Here are some thoughts on the new ballpark.
There’s really not much to complain about the stadium, but my main beef is the actual visibility from the concourse level, particularly in the outfield. Walking around the concourse and park during the Texas/Florida 6 PM matchup, I noticed a few things I didn’t like about the park. First of all, looking in from the outfield concourses all around the outfield was near impossible for a good half hour due to the sunset. At Rosenblatt, this was less of a problem do to the concourse being closer to the actual fence. Also with the concourse, it’s pretty hard to see over the seats on the corners, which could have been easily avoidable. Continue reading
OMAHA, Neb. – The South Carolina Gamecocks became only the ninth team in College World Series history to win back-to-back national championships, recording a 5-2 win over the Florida Gators in game two of the College World Series championship finals Tuesday night at TD Ameritrade Park.
With the win, South Carolina (55-14) surpassed Texas (1983-84) for the most consecutive wins in the NCAA postseason. The Gamecocks end 2011 with 16-straight NCAA tournament victories and 11-consecutive CWS wins, also an NCAA record. Continue reading

OMAHA, Neb. – In a thrilling game one of the 2011 College World Series finals, South Carolina edged Florida, 2-1, using a stolen base and a two errors by the Gators in the top of the 11th to claim its 15th-straight NCAA tournament win Monday night at TD Ameritrade Park.
The Gamecocks, who trailed 1-0 through the first seven innings of the contest, plated an eighth-inning run to knot the game at 1-1 and used key defensive plays in the ninth and 10th to stay alive for their 11th-inning game-winning run. Continue reading

The Florida Gators and South Carolina Gamecocks will face off in the 2011 College World Series Championship Series (best of three) starting tomorrow in Omaha, Nebraska. Both teams swept through the opening round of the College World Series with identical 3-0 records. The Gators picked up a victory over Texas by a score of 8-4 before defeating Vanderbilt 3-1 and 6-4 to got to the Championship round. The Gamecocks on the other hand grabbed a 5-4 win over Texas A&M before winning over Virginia twice by scores of 7-1 and 3-2 in 13 innings. Continue reading

OMAHA, Neb. –South Carolina used two Virginia errors in the 13th inning to plate the game-winning run in a thrilling 3-2 victory Tuesday night at the 2011 Men’s College World Series at TD Ameritrade Park. The game was played before a TD Ameritrade Park Omaha record crowd of 25,882.
The defending champion Gamecocks (53-14) advance to their second MCWS finals and will face the Florida Gators (53-17) in a best-of-three series beginning Monday at 8 p.m. ET. No. 1 national seed Virginia finishes its season at 56-12. Continue reading
