Iowa finalizes 2009-2010 Class


IowaBaseball The University of Iowa baseball team welcomes several new faces this fall including Mike Corbeil, Kevin Gates and Kurt Lee.

Corbeil, a Chesterfield, MO, native, is an incoming freshman infielder. He was a two-time all-state, all-district and all-conference selection his two years on the Marquette High School varsity squad. Corbeil’s senior season he hit .453 with four home runs and 37 RBI. In his career at Marquette he set the career RBI record, with 54. Corbeil was part of the 2008 Suburban West Conference Championship team and partook in the Junior Sunbelt Games.

Ohio State adds four for 2010 Season


BobTodd COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State head baseball coach Bob Todd today announced the signing of four student-athletes to national letters of intent. The four, all of them freshmen, are RHP Cole Brown, outfielder Hunter Mayfield, RHP Brett McKinney and catcher Steel Russell.

Brown and Mayfield are both from Tallahassee, Fla., and were teammates at Lawton Chiles High School. McKinney is from Hamilton, Ohio and attended Badin High School. Steel is from the Philadelphia suburb of Wyndmoor, Pa., where he attended Chestnut Hill Academy.

Campbell Signs Seven In Summer Recruiting Period


PAYRKXSKPHXKFZA.20090221213420 BUIES CREEK, N.C. — As the fall practice schedule gets underway at Taylor Field the Campbell baseball program welcomes 16 newcomers including seven that have come to the team as a result of the summer recruiting period.  These seven new Fighting Camels are expected to make an immediate impact in the Campbell lineup this season.

Four junior college transfers highlight the summer recruiting for the Fighting Camels including two pitchers who helped their squads reach the postseason, including one who made an appearance in the Junior College World Series.

West Virginia announces 2009-2010 Recruiting Class


GVZHeader MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University baseball coach Greg Van Zant has announced that 10 players have signed to play for the WVU baseball team in the 2010 season.

Four pitchers in Jared Hill (Harrisburg, Ohio/Grove City HS), Eric Hinkle (Ocean Township, N.J./Potomac State JC), Marshall Thompson (Denton, Md./North Caroline HS) and Michael Twigg (Berkeley Springs, W.Va./Berkeley Springs HS) highlight a group of new Mountaineers looking to compete in the upcoming year.

South Florida Bulls Welcome 10 Newcomers for 2009-10 Season

"With this class we elevated the level of talent," said Prado. "This is a class that I feel has a chance to be very good. They work hard and they are the kind of young men we want in our program. We don’t have to tell them about doing extra work. We don’t have them to tell them to lift. They just do it. "

Seton Hall Incoming Freshman David Bachner Passes Away

large_bachner I came across this story from Seton Hall Media Relations on incoming freshman David Bachner who was found dead at his home in Plainsboro on August 11th. According to a report from The Star-Ledger, Bachner was diagnosed with a heart condition in June as a doctor was giving him a physical for Seton Hall. He ended up wearing a heart monitor for a couple of games. He was expected to become an instant contributor to the Pirates rotation as Seton Hall gave him a full scholarship for next season. He finished his high school career with a 17-3 record with a 1.50 ERA and 236 strikeouts. You can check out a Star-Ledger report on him by clicking here. Huskers complete 2010 Recruiting Class


_hub6424_375_large Lincoln ( – University of Nebraska Head Coach Mike Anderson announced Wednesday that seven student-athletes have joined the Husker baseball program for the upcoming season.

Tuesday’s group includes four pitchers and three catchers, and features three players from Nebraska in addition to student-athletes from Minnesota, Missouri, Texas and California.

“We are excited about completing this year’s recruiting class,” Anderson said. “This group of players, combined with the players we announced earlier this year, brings a lot of potential for not only this season, but for the future as well.”
