Indiana adds two for 2010 Season

MattErnestIndiana BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana baseball team has added a pair of right-handed pitchers to its roster for the 2010 season, head coach Tracy Smith announced today. Matt Ernest (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) and Casey Smith (Bloomington, Ind./North) will join the squad at the beginning of the spring semester.

"We obviously are a bit thin at pitcher heading into this season," Smith said. "These two will give us some depth in our pitching staff and have a good chance to be in the mix for weekend innings this spring."

College of Charleston signs Nine for 2010-2011 Season

College of Charleston baseball coach Monte Lee announced Tuesday the signing of nine student-athletes to national letters of intent for the 2011 season.

The class is made up of six position players and three pitchers from four different states. The class consists of five high school players and four junior college players.

"I’m extremely excited about the 2010 class," said second-year Cougar coach Monte Lee. "Coach (Dan) Roszel and coach (Chris) Morris have done an outstanding job of bringing in top rate talent that will impact our program as soon as they set foot on campus."

Greg Anderson Influences Cal Infielder Even While in Prison

TonyRenda Katie Dowd of The Daily Cal sent me this interesting article from the San Francisco Chronicle where incoming Cal freshman Tony Renda has a long standing relationship with controversial and Barry Bonds former trainer Greg Anderson that dates back to 8th grade. Renda stated to the Chronicle the following “I think he’s the best trainer in the area, the best in California and the best in baseball, he understands the game and what muscles you need. You can lift with him a lot and talk about a lot. He’s young enough where he can relate." Anderson pled guilty of supplying athletes with Steroids in 2005 and served three months in prison. He also was in prison for an additional year for contempt of court in the Barry Bonds perjury case. When Anderson was in prison, Renda would write to Anderson to get advice on workouts and other ways to help his training.

Baseball America releases 2010 Recruting Class Rankings

Miami (FL) finalizes 2010 Recruiting Class

JDArtegaMiami CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Head coach Jim Morris and associate head coach and recruiting coordinator J.D. Arteaga have officially announced the 2009 signing class for the University of Miami baseball team. Ranked as the No. 9 class nationally by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, the 13-member class features six players who were taken in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft and a total of 12 players that hail from the state of Florida.

Princeton adds nine for 2010 season

PrincetonBaseball PRINCETON (10/6/09) — The Princeton baseball team has announced the nine members of its Class of 2013 that are on campus and competing in the team’s fall practices. The group of players will have an immediate impact on the Princeton program when games begin in early March.

"We are very excited to have this group of players join our team," says Scott Bradley, the Robert H.B. Baldwin ’42 Head Coach of Baseball at Princeton. "It’s a group of hard-nosed and tough players that have excelled in some of the toughest high school programs and leagues in the country."

St. Mary’s adds 18 for 2010 Season

St.Mary'sBaseball Moraga, CA - There will be a number of new faces out at Louis Guisto Field next week when the Saint Mary’s College Baseball team begins fall practice. Head coach Jedd Soto brought in 16 student-athletes to compete for a position on the 2010 roster. The incoming class includes 10 pitchers, five infielders, two outfielders, and one catcher.

New Mexico finalizes 2009-2010 Freshmen Class

RayBirminghamNewMexico ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.– University of New Mexico baseball coach Ray Birmingham and his staff have announced the signing of four more UNM baseball players. Freshmen Oscar Almeida, Arthur Nelson and Zak Miller and transfer Mike Lachapelle have signed National Letters of Intent to play with the University of New Mexico. All four were brought in for their abilities to touch 90 mph on the radar gun.
