SEGUIN, Texas – The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs opened the 2009 American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Series with a 10-1 win over the University of the Ozarks on Friday.

At TLU’s Katt-Isbel Field, the Bulldogs captured game one of the best two-of-three series with 15 total hits and with seven innings from freshman ace Brad Orosey (Houston/Cypress Creek).

First Round Series of ASC Baseball Tourney Set

RICHARDSON, Texas –– Mississippi College, the University of Texas at Tyler, Texas Lutheran University and Hardin-Simmons University will each serve as first round hosts of the 2009 American Southwest Conference Baseball Championship Tournament Series, to be held April 24-25, after locking up one of the top two seeds from their respective divisions.

2009 Big Ten Championship to be held in Columbus

PARK RIDGE, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference and Greater Columbus Sports Commission announced today that Huntington Park, the home of the Triple-A Columbus Clippers, will serve as the host site for the 2009 Big Ten Baseball Tournament. The event will mark the Big Ten’s first neutral-site baseball tournament since 1994.

“We are excited to announce that the 2009 Big Ten Baseball Tournament will be held at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio,” said Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany. “Moving the baseball tournament to a neutral site will allow the conference office and the local organizing committee to promote this event throughout the season. In addition, playing at an outstanding facility like Huntington Park will enhance the experience for our student-athletes, coaches and fans. We’re looking forward to the first pitch of the tournament in May.” Continue reading
