SEC Tournament Game Three: Florida vs. Texas A&M

The Aggies of Texas A&M eliminated the Florida Gators with a 6-3 victory in the single -elimination SEC Tournament game on Tuesday evening. Daniel Mengden pitched a complete game for the Aggies, striking out 11 while allowing just five hits and one earned run.

SEC Tournament Game Two: Auburn vs. Alabama

sec_baseball_13The Alabama Crimson Tide sent the Tigers packing on Tuesday afternoon as they defeated Auburn 6-3 in the single-elimination SEC Tournament game. Ben Moore, Austen Smith and Brett Booth all had multiple-hits for the Crimson Tide, combining for three of Alabama’s RBI and four of their runs. On the mound, Jay Shaw was lights-out for Alabama as he pitched 5.0 scoreless innings allowing just four hits and a walk.  Read the rest of this entry »

#8 Florida (29-27, 14-16)

Florida was one of the top teams in the SEC three weeks ago coming off of three straight series wins. However entering into the SEC Tournament, the Gators head to Hoover following three consecutive series losses. If Florida can get back to the baseball they were playing three weeks ago, it would strongly help the Gators as they hope to show the selection committee that they truly deserve a spot in the NCAA Tournament. #6 Ole Miss (37-19, 15-14)

The Rebels have been a bit up and down throughout the season, however when Ole Miss is on their A-game, they can compete with the best.  Offensively, Rebel leadoff man Tanner Mathis is one of the hottest bats in the SEC coming off of a 7-10 weekend at LSU. Pair Mathis’s current hot-streak with the consistent bats of Turner, Mistone and Anderson, and the Rebel offense has the ability to do some damage in Hoover. Read the rest of this entry »
