CBD Weekend Preview: Florida vs Kentucky

As the end of the regular season fast approaches, two of the country’s top teams will battle it out in Lexington, Kentucky this weekend when the Kentucky Wildcats host the Florida Gators in a three game SEC series.

Number 7 ranked Kentucky enters with a record of 36-9 and 14-7 in SEC play which is good enough to put them in a three way tie with LSU and South Carolina to lead the SEC, and the program is off to their best start to a season and in league play in the long history of the school. Purdue’s Wittgren and Plawecki looking to lead Boilermakers to NCAA Tourney

This year’s Boilermakers are off to an impressive start to the season, with a record of 12-1 so far, and are ranked in Baseball America’s Top 25 for the first time since 2001. This past weekend, Purdue had a 22-1 win over Murray State, breaking the school record with 30 hits in the game.

It’s been 25 years since Purdue last made the NCAA Tournament, and nearly 113 years since they last won a Big Ten Conference Title. But this year’s team is something special. Read the rest of this entry »

New Era Begins At Western Kentucky Under Matt Myers

With this week came the official start of the college baseball season, and a chance for me to sit down with Western Kentucky’s new head coach, Matt Myers. This will be Myers’ fifth season with WKU, after spending two years each as assistant coach and associate head coach. When asked about the transition, Myers seemed to have a very good idea of what was needed for the program. “From the baseball standpoint, it’s been a really smooth transition,” said Myers. “How we’re playing?
