Old Dominion players leading the way in Valley League

The Valley Baseball League will hold their third game of the Championship series with a couple of Old Dominion players leading the way.

On the brink of a championship, Vinnie Pasquantino pulled out his iPhone for a quick reminder about what it’s like to be left out of a postseason.

It was Monday afternoon at Charlottesville High School, some 27 hours before the Tom Sox host the Strasburg Express in the deciding game of the Valley Baseball League Championship Series. Pasquantino, a first baseman hitting .333 for the Tom Sox, is one of three Old Dominion products nearing the end of a successful summer in Charlottesville.

The other two — shortstop Bryce Windham and outfielder Kyle Battle — were engaging in their own conversation when Pasquantino reached into his pocket. They already knew the image on Pasquantino’s lock-screen. Theirs is the same.
