Chad Holbrook settles into CofC job; adds former Liberty coach Jim Toman to Staff

Chad Holbrook wakes up each day and can’t wait to get to the College of Charleston’s baseball facility at Mount Pleasant’s Patriots Point.

Holbrook, who was hired as the Cougars head baseball coach on July 21, is hoping that in a couple of months his players will feel the same way.

“Every day I’ve been here so far I can’t wait to get down to the field and get to work,” Holbrook said. “I want our kids to feel the exact same way I do. My goal is every time our players cross the Ravenel Bridge I want them chomping at the bit to get here.

Pewaukee’s Goodman overcame injury ends up at UW-Milwaukee

Conner Goodman stood on the field of Miller Park in the summer of 2016 and realized if he still had “it.” For years, Conner had dreamed of playing Division 1 baseball, but at the beginning of the 2015 wrestling season, the Pewaukee junior suffered a torn labrum and missed both sports seasons.

Pewaukee’s head varsity wrestling coach, Ed Kurth, has known the Goodmans for years and knew Conner’s junior season of baseball was an important part of the recruiting process.

Andre Butler promoted at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Andre Butler has joined the Penn State baseball coaching staff full time after a two-year stint as a volunteer assistant coach, as head coach Rob Cooper named him as an assistant coach Friday.

Butler will take a lead role with the team’s hitters and continue to work with the team’s outfielders.

“Penn State has become a very special place to me during my past two years as the volunteer assistant,” said Butler. “Being a PA native, I can’t imagine a better institution to work for. I am extremely excited and grateful for my new role as a full-time assistant coach. I want to thank Coach Cooper and the Penn State administration for this opportunity. I look forward to continuing to represent this program in a high-class manner while developing the best student-athletes in the country.”
