BROOKLYN, N.Y.- LIU Brooklyn baseball first year head coach Dan Pirillo announced the team’s 2017 schedule Friday afternoon. The Blackbirds start with a 14-game road swing before opening at home against Wagner in March.

LIU begins the 2017 campaign with a three-game series at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, February 17-19. The Blackbirds then head to Thibodaux, Louisiana for the Nicholls State Tournament, February 24-26, where they will take on the host Colonels, the University of Louisiana at Monroe and Grambling State.

LIU opens the month of March with a three-game set against Houston Baptist in Houston, Texas, March 3-5. From there, the Blackbirds return to the east coast for four non-conference games in New York and New Jersey. March 8th, LIU crosses the river to take on Saint Peter’s in a single game, followed by a three-game series at Stony Brook (March 10-12), and a single game at NYIT (March 15).

The Blackbirds will host their home and Northeast Conference opener at LIU Field, March 17-19, with a three-game tilt against Wagner. LIU then heads back on the road for four games, heading to New Rochelle for a single, non-conference game against Iona (March 21), before trekking to Emmitsburg, Maryland, for a three-game series against NEC foe Mount St. Mary’s, March 24-26.

The Blackbirds have five non-conference games scheduled for their NEC bye week, starting by hosting the Manhattan Jaspers at LIU Field, Wednesday, March 29 at 3 p.m. LIU follows that up with a three-game series at Seton Hall (March 31 to April 2), and a single game at Albany, Wednesday, April 5 at 3 p.m.

LIU continues NEC play hosting CCSU (April 7-9) and Mount St. Mary’s (April 21-23), and taking to the road to face off against defending NEC champions Bryant (April 13-15) and Wagner (April 28-30). Mid-week non-league single games continue in that stretch, against Manhattan (April 19), NYIT (April 26) and Army (May 3). The Blackbirds will also travel for two straight weekends in May, to take on Fordham (May 5-7) in three games, and Fairleigh Dickinson (May 12-14), in a traditional four-game NEC series.

The Blackbirds close the season with five straight home games on LIU Field. They welcome local rival St. John’s, on Tuesday, May 16, before hosting Sacred Heart University for the final weekend of the regular season, in a four-game series, May 18-20.
