Jim Carone WagnerStaten Island, NY – Wagner sixth-year head coach Jim Carone has announced the Seahawks’ 2017 schedule, a 52-game slate that begins on February 23 when the Seahawks travel to Thibodaux, LA to take on the University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in the opening game of the Mardi Gras Tournament, hosted by Nicholls State University.

“We are excited and looking forward to the 2017 season,” said Carone. “We embrace the opportunity to have our student-athletes experience different parts of the country while playing college baseball, and with our opening weekend trip to Louisiana, it accomplishes that. The weekend trips to Delaware and Towson will allow us to go up against some of the best teams in the Mid-Atlantic region and will prepare us for our quest to compete for a Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship.”

In addition to the season opener vs. UL Monroe, rest of the Seahawks’ non-conference portion of the schedule includes matchups vs. Grambling, Nicholls State, Rutgers, Towson, Binghamton, Delaware, UMass Lowell, Monmouth, St. John’s, NYIT, Seton Hall, Saint Peter’s, Rider, St. Bonaventure, and Villanova.

For the 10th consecutive season, Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George will serve as the home venue for the Green & White with the 2017 home opener set for March 15 vs. the UMass Lowell River Hawks.

Wagner opens NEC play on March 17 when the Seahawks travel across the Verrazano Bridge to square off against the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds. The Green & White will conclude league play on the road in Emmitsburg, MD against the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers on May 20.

The NEC Tournament, which again be contested at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, CT, will take place May 25- 28.
