GG in actionOMAHA, Neb. – In a night of firsts, Coastal Carolina won its first College World Series game,
beating No. 1 national seed Florida 2-1 in the 2016 Men’s CWS at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.

Starter Andrew Beckwith (13-1) pitched the first complete game of his career, and the
Chanticleers had six extra-base hits, including an RBI double that was the result of the first
video replay in CWS history.

Beckwith held Florida to one earned run on seven hits and struck out seven in a 98-pitch
performance.

Zach Remillard had both RBI for the Chanticleers and two hits—a double and a triple. Anthony
Marks and Michael Paez also finished with two hits each.

Remillard was responsible for the first run of the game in the third inning. Marks doubled to left,
and Connor Owings walked. Then Remillard hit a ball that landed on the foul line in the dirt
down the right field side. It was originally ruled a foul ball, but after review, the call was
overturned. Remillard’s double allowed Marks to score, and Coastal Carolina took a 1-0 lead.

Florida tied the game in the fifth. Deacon Liput doubled down the right field line, then pinch hitter
Jeremy Vasquez drove him in with a single.

The decisive run came in the sixth inning, when Owings walked and Remillard tripled to left
center to drive him in.

Florida used five pitchers, including two who hit batters and did not record an out. Starter Logan
Shore (12-1) took his first loss on the season. He allowed two runs on five hits and struck out
seven in his five innings of work.

Offensively, Liput led the Gators with a double and a run scored.

Coastal Carolina (50-16) meets TCU in the winners’ bracket on Tuesday at 8 p.m. central. Florida (52-15) faces elimination against Texas Tech Tuesday at 4 p.m.
