Clemson capsFlorida State (#4) vs. Clemson (#5)

Out of the Wednesday ACC Conference Tournament baseball schedule the most intriguing game figures to be Clemson-Florida State. The Tigers just handed the Seminoles their first home sweep in quiet some time and are in a position to weasel their way into the NCAA tournament, pending a good showing in Durham.

The Tigers are playing their best baseball of the season and have won seven of their last eight games. Legendary skipper, Jack Legget refuses to give up on his guys and knows it his job to put the right guys in the line up that give his club the greatest chance to succeed.

Matthew Crownover, who was named the ACC Pitcher of the Year, earlier this week, will be taking the mound against the Seminoles on Wednesday. Crownover is 10-1 with 91 strikeouts and posts a 1.42 ERA for the Tigers this season.

Florida State skipper, Mike Martin has slated Boomer Biegalski as Crownover’s opposition. Biegalski faced Crownover just last weekend and received the loss in a 4-1 Tiger Victory.

It is a rare feat in any sport to beat a team four straight times, so the Seminoles should not be down after being swept last weekend. If you ask any coach around the country, the conference tournament is the start to a brand new season and anything can happen. One thing the Noles have going for them is that they faced Crownover just a few days ago, maybe Martin has figured out an approach that only one other team has succesfully accomplished all season.

Prediction: Clemson 5 Seminoles 3

Wednesday ACC Schedule:

#4 Florida State vs. #5 Clemson – 11 a.m.

#2 Miami vs. #7 Virginia – 3 p.m.

#1 Louisville vs. #8 North Carolina – 7 p.m.
