PeteWikGeorgetownWASHINGTON – Head Coach Pete Wilk and the Georgetown University baseball team announced the schedule for the upcoming 2015 season. Highlighting the spring slate is four non-conference games against teams that participated in last season’s NCAA Tournament, including a matchup with Virginia, the 2014 College World Series runners-up.

The Hoyas will open the year the same way they did last season, with three games in Winston-Salem, N.C., on the weekend of February 13-15. Taking part in the Wake Forest Invitational, GU will start the season against VCU, a team that went 37-20 out of the Atlantic 10 last year. Georgetown will also play Bucknell, an NCAA Tournament participant in 2014, and Delaware.

Georgetown will play 23 home games in 2015, starting with a three-game series against Fairfield, a 32-win team out of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, February 20-22. Brown (March 21-22) and Stony Brook (April 18-19) will also visit Shirley Povich Field in Bethesda, Md., for three-game sets. The Seawolves, who made it to the 2013 College World Series, won 35 games last season in the America East Conference.

The Blue & Gray will also travel for two non-conference, three-game series. The weekend of February 27 – March 1, GU will head back to North Carolina to play three contests at Davidson. The Hoyas will also fly out to Nashville, Tenn. over the final weekend of March for a three-game series against Lipscomb.

The annual spring break trip to Florida will take place March 7-14. The Hoyas will play a total of seven games against three opponents. After a contest versus Illinois State, GU will play two games apiece against Northwestern, Western Michigan and Lehigh.

Georgetown will play 12 midweek games throughout the course of the season, highlighted by a trip to Charlottesville, Va., to play the Cavaliers on Tuesday, March 24. The Hoyas will also play George Washington on Wednesday, February 18 as well as midweek home-and-home series with UMBC (March 3, May 12), Navy (March 18, April 29), Maryland-Eastern Shore (March 25, April 22), George Mason (March 31, April 14) and Coppin State (April 7, April 21).

Conference play begins with three games against Creighton, the defending BIG EAST regular season champions, at Shirley Povich Field, April 2-4.
The Hoyas will travel to Villanova (April 10-12) and Xavier (April 24-26), last year’s BIG EAST champions, before returning home for consecutive weekends against St. John’s (May 1-3) and Butler (May 8-10). The regular season will conclude with a three-game series at Seton Hall (May 14-16).

The BIG EAST Championships will take place May 20-24 and will be played at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., the home of the College World Series.
