Florida International releases 2015 Schedule

MIAMI (Dec. 4, 2014) – The 2015 edition of the FIU baseball schedule was released on Thursday. Comprised of 55 games, the 2015 schedule features, 25 teams from 12 conferences, including four NCAA Tournament teams from 2014 and an exhibition with the Miami Marlins on March 2 in Jupiter, Fla.

The season will open with a three-game set, hosting the Southeastern Conference’s Tennessee Volunteers, Feb. 13-15. The Vols are one of 14 non-conference foes the Panthers will face this season, including Stetson, Georgia Tech, Coastal Carolina, Albany, N.C. State, Manhattan, UConn, Seton Hall, St. Joseph’s, Bethune-Cookman, USF, Palm Beach Atlantic and Jacksonville.

Coming off a 36-20 campaign in 2014 in which the Panthers won 23 games at the FIU Baseball Stadium, FIU’s home slate in 2015 is made up of 30 games. The Panthers will welcome Tennessee (Feb. 13-15), Manhattan (Feb. 27-March 1) and UConn (March 6-8) in non-conference action.

FIU will take part in a challenging early-season tournament in Conway, S.C., Feb. 20-21, featuring Georgia Tech (2014 NCAA Tournament participant), Coastal Carolina, Albany and N.C. State.

Entering their second season in Conference USA, the Panthers will open league play at Southern Miss (March 13-15) and will host Charlotte (March 20-22) in the team’s conference opener at home. Including its three-game set with the 49ers, FIU will host five conference series this season with UTSA (April 3-5), WKU (April 17-19), Louisiana Tech (April 24-26) and UAB (May 8-10).

FIU will travel to Boca Raton, Fla., to take on conference rival Florida Atlantic (April 10-12) as well as travel to Norfolk, Va., to take on NCAA Tournament participant Old Dominion (May 1-3). The Panthers will close out the regular season with a trip to Houston, Texas, to take on the defending C-USA Champion Rice Owls (May 14-16).

The 2015 C-USA Baseball Tournament will be held May 20-24 at a site yet to be determined.
