Michigan releases 2015 Schedule

MichiganBaseballFeaturedANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Michigan baseball program and third-year head coach Erik Bakich have announced its 2015 schedule on Tuesday (Sept. 9). The slate is highlighted by 24 games against 2014 NCAA Tournament teams, 22 games at the Wilpon Complex and a pair of home series against 2014 Super Regional teams Maryland and Oklahoma State.

The Maize and Blue opens the 2015 schedule on Friday, Feb. 13, with a three-game series at Long Beach State. The Dirtbags advanced to last year’s Gainesville Regional final. Michigan travels to Greenville, N.C., the alma mater of Bakich and assistant coach Nick Schnabel, for the Keith LeClair Classic, facing host East Carolina, Liberty and St. John’s. Matchups and times will be announced at a later date.

The Wolverines open their Spring Break trip at the New York Mets Spring Training facility with a four-game series against Fort Worth Regional participant Siena. There will be one game on Friday, Feb. 27, and Sunday, March 1, with a doubleheader Saturday, Feb. 28. Michigan stays on the road for a single game at Stetson on Tuesday, March 3, at 6:30 p.m., before ending Spring Break in Conway, S.C., playing in the Coastal Carolina Invitational. The Wolverines join host Coastal Carolina, Michigan State, Toledo, Akron and UMBC in the tournament with matchups and times to be announced at a later date.

The Maize and Blue returns the home-and-home series with Kansas, heading to Lawrence, Kan., for a three-game series March 13-15. Another road trip to Lincoln, Neb., starts the Big Ten season with a three-game set at Nebraska March 20-22. After 21 straight games on the road, Michigan starts its home schedule with midweek games against Bowling Green and Western Michigan. Maryland then makes its first trip to Ann Arbor as a Big Ten member, playing the Terrapins in a three-game series March 27-29.
Weekend trips to Indiana and Penn State follow as U-M is on the road eight of the first nine weekends. The Wolverines face Michigan State in between those trips. It will be the only meeting between the two schools in the regular season.

A midweek contest at Notre Dame on April 14 it followed by a five-game homestand with Eastern Michigan (April 15), Purdue (April 17-19) and Kent State (April 22). Michigan heads to Minnesota for its final Big Ten road series on April 24-26. Ten of the final 12 games of the season are at home with series against Iowa (May 1-3), Northwestern (May 8-10), another single game against EMU (May 12) and Super Regional participant Oklahoma State (May 15-17).

The 2015 Big Ten Tournament will be on May 19-24 at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minn., home of the Minnesota Twins.
