The 18U National Team hosted trials at the University of Houston and will continue training in the area for the next five days. The newly named squad will practice at Rice’s Reckling Park at 6 p.m. ET/5 p.m. CT on Friday before opening a four-game series against Canada on Saturday.

The first game of that series will start at 6:35 p.m. ET/5:35 p.m. CT and be held at the MLB Urban Youth Academy. Game two will be played at Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros, at 5:30 p.m. CT on Sunday. The final two contests will then take place at UH’s Cougar Field at 1:05 p.m. CT on Monday and 12:35 p.m. on Tuesday.

The 18U National Team will be managed by Grand Canyon University head coach Andy Stankiewicz, who previously served as assistant coach for the 2012 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team which traveled to the Netherlands and Cuba. He will be joined in the dugout by pitching coach Jamey Shouppe (Head Coach, Florida A&M) and assistants Jayson King (Head Coach, Franklin Pierce) and Burt Call (Head Coach, Mater Dei HS – Calif.).

The team administration will be overseen by newly hired 18U National Team director Shaun Cole, with the assistance of USA Baseball Director of National Teams Eric Campbell. Jamey Gordon, from St. Vincent Sports Performance in central Indiana, will serve as the certified athletic trainer, and Cameron Harris will travel as the team’s press officer.
