TCU extends Jim Schlossnagle through 2020 Season

SchlossandSonTCUFORT WORTH – Fresh off leading TCU to its second berth in the College World Series, head baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle inked a contract extension through 2020. The Horned Frogs have been postseason participants in 10 of his 11 seasons on campus.

“We’re very excited to announce a contract extension for Jim Schlossnagle to lead our baseball program,” said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Chris Del Conte. “Jim has done a phenomenal job and is synonymous with TCU and Fort Worth.

“Jim has established TCU as one of the nation’s premier baseball programs, and he’s done it the right way. It’s a great day to be a Horned Frog when you can say that Jim Schlossnagle is going to be our baseball coach for a very long time.”

Schlossnagle has put the TCU baseball program on the map over the last 11 seasons. TCU has produced the top-10 win totals in school history and ranks third in the state of Texas with 465 victories since 2004. He places second all-time at TCU in wins and owns a 465-221 record as the Horned Frogs’ leader. In 13 years as a head coach, Schlossnagle is 542-268.

“This is a great day for me and my family because we truly love Fort Worth and TCU,” said Schlossnagle. “It’s an honor to be the baseball coach here and my wife, Kami, and I are very thankful to Chancellor Boschini, Mr. Del Conte and all of the great TCU fans for their continued support of our players and coaching staff.”

The 2014 campaign saw the program reach new heights as the Horned Frogs took home the University’s first team conference championship in the Big 12. TCU posted its eighth 40-win season under Schlossnagle’s guidance, finishing the year with a 48-18 mark. History was made as the Horned Frogs earned their first-ever national seed and hosted an NCAA Super Regional for the first time.

The Frogs are one of just 10 programs to have multiple appearances in the College World Series in the last five years and one of just 13 programs to appear in 10 of the last 11 NCAA tournaments.

In his time at TCU, Schlossnagle has led the Frogs to a combined 14 conference championships. Since 2004, TCU has been crowned conference tournament champions seven times; twice in Conference USA, four times in the Mountain West and once in the Big 12. TCU was the Mountain West regular season champion in each of its seven seasons as members of the league.

Under his guidance, the Frogs have played in 10 NCAA Regionals, four NCAA Super Regionals and made two appearances in the College World Series. The Frogs boast a pair of top-five rankings to close out a season, finishing the 2010 campaign ranked No. 3 and the 2014 season at No. 5.

TCU has produced 81 all-conference selections, five conference Pitchers of the Year and three conference Freshmen of the Year. Thirteen athletes have earned All-America accolades and 14 have been named Freshman All-Americans.

Schlossnagle has seen 50 players drafted over the last 11 seasons, including three first-round picks. Eight of his Horned Frogs have gone on to appear in a Major League game. Former Frog Matt Carpenter is a two-time MLB All-Star at two different positions.
