Wrapping up the weekend action Baylor fought back to get a massive 5-4 win over Cal State Fullerton on Sunday. After working around an error that led to two runs in the opening frame, starter Austin Stone settled in to throw six strong innings and lead the Bears to the win. Josh Michalec came on and shut the door in the 9th to earn his 6th save of the season to preserve the Bears victory. Previously dropping Friday’s game 11-0, Baylor showed impressive resolve earning back-to-back one-run wins over one of the top teams in the country. The win comes at a pivotal time for the Bears, who have played a difficult schedule thus far and begin Big 12 play next weekend against Texas Tech.

Tennessee knocked off Arizona State 6-4 behind a big effort from their bullpen to come back to take the series after losing the opener on Friday. The Vols continue to be one of the most impressive teams in college baseball in the opening weeks of the new season and going on the road to defeat a tough Sun Devil team was very impressive. Dave Serrano’s club used three 6th inning runs to propel themselves to the win and improve to 14-1. With SEC series against Mizzou and Auburn coming up over the next two weeks, the Vols have a good chance to keep the momentum rolling.

Cal baseball defeated Arkansas 4-3 and 2-1 in doubleheader action in the Cal Baseball Classic in Berkeley. Pitching was the story all day, as Kyle Porter threw 5 2/3 with just one unearned run to get the win and Trevor Hildenberger picked up a three-inning save to close out Game 1. Michael Theofanopoulos tossed six scoreless innings in Game 2 and second baseman Brenden Farney went 3-3 to highlight things offensively for the Bears in the 2-1 win and sweep of the Razorbacks on the day.

South Carolina used a sweep of Ivy League foe Brown this weekend to improve to 15-0 and look dominant in the process. Freshman Wil Crowe struck out a career-high nine batters in the 1-0 win to run his record to 3-0 in the first four starts of his career. The Gamecock pitching staff as a whole has been unbelievable in 2014, shutting out Brown this weekend in all three games to give them a staggering eight shutouts in the first 15 games. A huge opening weekend in SEC play looms next weekend as South Carolina will host Ole Miss.
