The Clemson vs South Carolina Controversy

On Saturday afternoon, there was a bench clearing incident between the Clemson Tigers and the South Carolina Gamecocks after the Tigers third baseman pointed at a Gamecock runner which led to the benches emptying. It wasn’t the only random thing to happen on the play as Clemson head coach was out arguing the play before the ball was dead. You can check out the full sequence of events below that 107.5 host Michael Haney tweeted out.

Just to clarify… no benches cleared. All players and managers involved where already on the field at the time.

That is incorrect. I was there. No punches or anything were thrown, but the benches most certainly did clear.

Looked at the video… No one else except those on the field appear to be involved in it.

Well we weren’t watching the same game BC I was there too and only ppl who were already on the field were involved

If you are calling it random, then I don’t think you understand the rivalry.

Andrew March 9, 2014 - 9:58 am

exactly. These two teams hate eachother

The guy at 3rd slid with his cleats up into Baum’s shin. No one shows that part. He was pissed because Mooney hit him hard in the knee.

Cliff March 3, 2014 - 12:47 pm

Knee or shin, which one was it?

guest March 3, 2014 - 1:21 pm

No dirt mark on shin…no dirt mark on knee…no limp…no rubbing of “hurt” area on the leg. That’s just a bunch of bull by Baum.

Guest March 3, 2014 - 2:39 pm

Baum was blocking the bag. Cleats up or not (and they weren’t) he deserved what he got.

BS, he didn’t slide with his cleats up. If this site allowed pictures, I could post it for you. It was a routine slide. There’s a great picture sequence at The Big Spur.com

You can post pics on this site…there is an image thing in the comment box that you could post the image too

There was nothing wrong with the slide… take a look to see.

The real controversy is why was a coach allowed to come on the field and touch/interfere with live play. Should have been called and the baserunner should have been awarded home.
