2014 CBD Top 100 Countdown: 5. Ian Happ (Cincinnati)

Sports LAX, track and field, baseball, staffCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2014 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be adding players day-by-day until we get to number one!

Number 5 on our countdown is Cincinnati sophomore outfielder Ian Happ. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native attended Mount Pleasant High School. He was a four-year letter winner where he helped guide the Blue Devils to a top eight finish in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association in 2012. In his high school career, he accumulated a .449 career average with 33 doubles, five triples, 12 home runs and 65 RBIs.

He continued his baseball career with the Cincinnati Bearcats where as a freshman he played in all 56 games hitting a team high .322 while leading the team with 41 runs scored, 13 doubles, six homeruns and 47 walks.

He played in 43 games this summer with the Harwich Mariners in the Cape Cod Baseball League. Happ hit .302 with seven homers and 26 RBI.

Mt. Lebanon High School not Mt. Pleasant. That is a big inexcusable mistake.
