2014 CBD Top 100 Countdown: 14. Grayson Greiner (South Carolina)

greinerCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2014 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be adding players day-by-day until we get to number one!

Number 14 on our countdown is South Carolina junior catcher Grayson Greiner. The Columbia, South Carolina native attended Blythewood High School where he was a three time All-State selection.

As a freshman, he played in 62 games with 53 starts, hitting .222 (43-for-194) with 26 runs scored, 13 doubles, one triple, six homers and 32 RBI. He was solid on defense giving up 25 stolen bases on 43 attempts. He was named to the 2012 USA Collegiate National Team but has to miss the summer with a knee injury.

His sophomore season saw him play in 57 games with 56 starts including 49 behind the plate. He hit .298 (61-for-205) with 32 runs scored, 10 doubles, a pair of triples, four homers and 38 RBI. He earned second-team All-SEC honors while being named to Johnny Bench Award Watch list for best catcher in the nation.
