2014 CBD Top 100 Countdown: 23 Michael Cederoth (San Diego State)

CederothSDSUSmallCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2014 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be adding players day-by-day until we get to number one!

Number 23 on our countdown is San Diego State junior RHP Michael Cederoth from Steele Canyon, High School. The San Diego native was a two year letter winner going 4-4 with one save and a 2.33 earned run average while tossing five complete games. He struck out 104 batters over 72 innings. He was named First team all-East County selection and to all-Grossmont Hills League second team. He was selected in the 42nd round of the 2011 Major League draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks but decided to head to San Diego State.

As a freshman, he started in the bullpen and moved into the No. 1 spot in the starting rotation by the third weekend of the season, remaining there the rest of the year. He went 4-4 with a 4.14 ERA in his 15 starts while going 4-4 with a 4.14 ERA. He was able to hold opponents to a .226 batting average against.

His sophomore season saw him go 3-9 with a 4.25 ERA in 15 starts while holding opponents to a .213 batting average against. He struggled with his walks total for the second straight year as he allowed 48 walks while striking out 108.
