caputo_journalHello All,

To start off, I’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! The new year will be a great start for our program as the journey to conquer the Atlantic 10 begins. As our guys return to campus, we begin to polish our skills as we only have a few weeks until the first pitch is thrown in Fort Myers, Florida.

This past week we’ve been fortunate enough to get out on the turf to get some swings and field some ground balls. 45 degrees doesn’t sound like much, but on January 18th, 45 degrees at The Beck is a blessing from the baseball Gods. However, the cold weather is not an excuse as we have been taking full advantage of our hitting barn when the weather becomes a factor.

One key highlight of the new year is that our new strength and conditioning weight room has just been opened. It is a state of the art weight room with 14 brand new squat racks, equipped with weights and a 30-yard turf field. My teammates and I bust our tails in the weight room so that when the time comes we are ready to face any challenge or obstacle. This new facility not only provides us with the resources necessary to elevate our performance, but it also instills a sense of pride and ambition to become the best athletes that we can be.

Every season is a new beginning and an opportunity to achieve success. The beginning of every season is such an exciting time. Not only are we able to play the game we love all over the country, we get create so many great memories alongside guys that will be lifelong friends.

This year we have a talented group of guys with a lot of potential. For our freshman, this is a chance to be part of something special, and make an immediate impact. For our seniors, it is a final chance to go out on top.

When it comes down to it, a college baseball season is about how bad you want it, and how you want to be remembered. For us now, all that’s left to do is prove that we’ve got what it takes.

Until next time,

Tim Caputo
