UCFRooney.jpgORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) – The road back to the postseason for the UCF baseball team officially begins in February as the 2014 regular-season schedule was released Wednesday. The Knights will welcome fans out to the baseball complex for 35 home games beginning on Friday, Feb. 14, against Siena.

In its inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference, UCF head coach Terry Rooney’s squad will look to make its third postseason appearance in the last four years with another challenging slate against some of the best teams in the nation. The Knights will go head-to-head with eight teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament, including Florida, Florida State, Florida Atlantic, Miami, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, UConn and College World Series participant Louisville.

UCF welcomes in-state foe Florida State to the baseball complex for a two-game set on March 11-12. A total of 5,851 fans packed the park the last time the Seminoles made the trip south for a pair of contests in 2012. The Knights will also host Miami in a non-conference game on April 9. That matchup is a return meeting for UCF as it will make the trip to Coral Gables earlier in the season on March 18.

For the second-consecutive season, the Knights will host the UCF Baseball Tournament on Feb. 21-23 when Ohio State, Oklahoma and The Citadel make their way to Orlando. Other noteworthy opponents on the 2014 home slate include Michigan (March 5), North Florida (April 30) and FAU (May 6).

On the road in 2014, the Knights will take on Florida in Gainesville on Feb. 18 in a key early-season non-conference matchup. The Black and Gold will also travel to Ole Miss for a three-game series from Feb. 28-March 2, Jacksonville, Bethune-Cookman, UNF and FAU.

In its inaugural season in The American, UCF will host Cincinnati, Louisville, Temple and Rutgers while venturing to rival USF, Memphis and Houston before ending the regular season at UConn. The Knights are aiming to make history by becoming the first conference champion in the newly formed league.
