We continue the list today at number 78 with Louisiana-Lafayette shortstop Blake Trahan. In his freshman campaign with the Ragin’ Cajuns, Trahan was the only freshman in the Cajuns lineup during the 2013 season and quickly showed signs of a top performer. In 213 at bats the shortstop compiled 68 hits, 38 RBI and hit to a .319 avg. The Kinder, La., native started 62 of the Cajuns’ 63 games at shortstop and hit safely in 48 of 62 games. After being named to the 2013 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team, Trahan was then also named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year. He is the first Cajun to be recognized as a Freshman All-American since Jonathan Lucroy in 2005.

The slick fielding shortstop finished his rookie season with a .955 fielding percentage and proved to be ready to take on the summer season. During the 2013 summer, Trahan spent his time with the Clarinda A’s in the MINK League. The rising sophomore was named the top prospect in the league as he helped lead the A’s to the MINK League Championships. Trahan hit .315 while with the A’s after driving in 31 runs on 51 hits.

As the 2014 season quickly approaches, Trahan looks to continue his success on the field and bring a championship to the Ragin’ Cajun program.
