College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the top 100 players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today at number 88 with Harford CC third baseman KJ Hockaday. Before making the decision to attend Harford, Hockaday spent his first two seasons with the Maryland Terrapins. In his sophomore campaign with the Terps, Hockaday posted a .286 BA with 36 hits and 15 RBI during a season riddled with injury and undisclosed suspensions. The Baltimore Orioles drafted the Joppa, Maryland native in the 14th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft after a historic high school career at The John Carroll School. He batted .642 his senior year for the Patriots and broke New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira’s Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association career home run record with 30 home runs.

Hockaday has spent the last two summers playing for the Youse’s Maryland Orioles. During the 2013 summer he posted a .362 BA with 54 hits and 22 RBI. He now looks to bring his talent to Harford CC and is looking ahead to the 2014 season as well as the MLB draft.

He isn’t playing for HCC. Just taking classes before attending an NAIA school.
