College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the top 100 players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today at number 94 with Mississippi State LHP Jacob Lindgren. The Bay St. Louis, Miss. southpaw was a star at St. Stanislaus High school, compiling an 8-0 record with a 1.09 ERA. Lindgren also hit .470 with 17 RBIS and 5 homers, while securing 128 strikeouts in 64 innings.

Lindgren once had a 20-strikeout, seven-inning game while playing for Rockachaws, where he helped guide the team to a 4A state championship in 2010. During this season, Lindgren also posted a 6-2 record and sparkling 1.45 ERA. He was also named as a first-team all-state pitched for St. Stanislaus.

Once he joined John Cohen’s Diamond Dawgs, Lindgren pitched in 14 games, where he went 2-2, with 24 strikeouts in 28.1 innings pitched and a 3.18 ERA. With pitchers such as Kendall Gravemen, Chad Girodo and Evan Mitchell missing from State’s pitching depth, Lindgren could have a spotlighted season.

Like other SEC players, Lindgren lettered four years in football in high school, including another 4A state championship in 2009.
