BealsTheOhioStateCOLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team released its 2014 schedule Monday, including 27 home games at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The Buckeyes have 10 games against six NCAA Tournament teams from last season, including seven of those games away from Columbus.

“We’ve put together another nationally-competitive schedule,” Ohio State head coach Greg Beals said. “It’s a schedule that will prepare our baseball team for a championship run in the conference and also the postseason. Our conference schedule starts out fast with Michigan State, Indiana and Nebraska so we’ll quickly find out where we stand in the Big Ten.”

Ohio State opens the season Feb. 14-16 in Port Charlotte, Fla., with games against Connecticut, Auburn and a pair against Indiana State. The Buckeyes take on host Central Florida, The Citadel and Oklahoma Feb. 21-23 in Orlando, Fla., before games against Pittsburgh, Western Kentucky and host East Carolina Feb. 28-March 2 in the Keith LeClair Classic in Greenville, N.C. Ohio State concludes its 14-game road stretch to start the season against national powerhouses Oregon March 7-9 and Oregon State March 11.

“The highlight of our schedule will be our spring break week,” Beals said. “We head out to Oregon for a three-game series with Oregon and a single game at Oregon State before coming back to Columbus to open our home schedule.”

The Buckeyes open their home slate March 14-16 against Siena, followed by midweek home games against Akron March 18 and Xavier March 19 before the Big Ten-opening series at Michigan State March 21-23. After a non-conference game against Marshall March 25, Ohio State takes on 2013 College World Series participant Indiana March 28-30 in Columbus.

A pair of non-conference matchups with Ohio April 1 and Toledo April 2 follow before a trip to take on Nebraska April 4-6. The Buckeyes return home to face Dayton April 8 and Penn State April 11-13 before a road game at West Virginia April 15, a home matchup with Ball State April 16 and a non-conference series at home against Murray State April 18-19. Ohio State then closes out the month with a series at Purdue April 25-27 and a game at 2013 College World Series participant Louisville April 30.
Home games against Iowa May 2-4 and Miami May 6 open the final month of the regular season before a trip to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan May 9-11. Ohio State then wraps up the regular season with a home game against Cincinnati May 13 and a three-game set against Northwestern May 15-17.

The Big Ten Tournament is set for May 21-24 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., with NCAA Regionals set for June 1-3.
