BaumStadiumWhile college baseball season might be over, College Baseball Daily is keeping you covered by counting down the Top 10 Stadiums in the country. Each day we’ll have a different stadium, including the history and fun facts, until we reach the number one stadium in all of college baseball. We continue our countdown today at number 4 with Arkansas Baum Stadium.

Since 1996, Baum Stadium has been the breeding ground for Arkansas Razorbacks baseball. One of the largest stadiums in the SEC, Baum Stadium can hold up to 10,737 Hogs and has been named the best collegiate field a few times over. Baum Stadium has such a beautiful set up, the design has tried to be replicated many times, but nothing can match it. The stadium was constructed in 1996 and renovated in 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007, with expansions coming in three of those years. Each renovation and expansion allowed Baum Stadium to grow into the legendary ballpark it is today. Baum Stadium has been home for five NCAA Regionals and one Super Regional, and in 2013, the Razorbacks held the second best attendance in all of Division I ball, averaging 8,335 fans per game. The record attendance for the Razorbacks has been 11,103, set April 9, 2011 when the Hogs beat LSU, 8-7. Baum Stadium, however, has to compete with LSU’s Alex Box Stadium for attendance records; in 2004 and 2007, Arkansas led the country in attendance, but was edged out by LSU, by just a mere 20 fans in 2008. Before playing at Baum Stadium, the Razorbacks called George Cole Field home for two decades, but they paid tribute to the former Hog by naming the actual playing field after him. Future plans have been drawn up to add on to Baum Stadium, including new luxury suites in right and left field and a concourse that goes all the way around the stadium, allowing for a new center field entrance and a new LED ribbon board. Baum Stadium is able to hold against the other SEC stadiums, with the same class, tradition, and atmosphere that makes Hogs fans let out their loudest “Woo Pig Sooie.”
