sec_baseball_13The Ole Miss Rebels got a strong start from Mike Mayers in the opening game of the 2013 SEC Tournament with a 4-1 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats. Mayers went 6.1 innings allowing one unearned run to even his season record to 5-5. Kentucky’s Jerad Grundy got the loss giving up four runs in 5.2 innings.

Austin Anderson, Andrew Mistone, Will Allen and Auston Bousfield all drove in a run in a balanced offensive attack. Anderson led the team with two hits.

Kentucky’s lone run was scored by Zac Zellers who scored on a poor throw to second base on a 1st and 3rd stolen base situation.

Ole Miss moves onto the double elimination portion of the SEC Tourney tomorrow where they face off against Arkansas at 9:30am. Kentucky on the other hand will have to wait until Selection Monday to see if they will make the NCAA Tournament.
